CHIEF CLIFF Quarter Horses

Foaling season begins for us in April this year, and really heats up in May.    With the snow melting off the hillsides, the sun coaxing the pastures to green up, and the promise of spring in the air, we're eager to move some horses.  This is a great time to go horse-shopping and Sigurd's willing to deal. We've got a number of well-started (now) 3-year olds chomping at the bit (not literally) and  ready to continue their training.  Take advantage of spring fever and check out our Horses for Sale and Yearlings for Sale pages.  There's sure to be something you'll like!!  We're real proud of the horses we have.  They're good looking, well bred, and have excellent dispositions.  You can't go wrong with a CHIEF CLIFF Quarter Horse!!

Pictured here is our first foal of the season--a red roan colt out of Peppys Two Cute x Hancocks Blue Olena.  He was born April 16th and will have Mr San Peppy and Switch Olena on his papers.  He's already showing some quick moves  and came out with some nice muscles and a heavy dusting of snow over his rump.  He should be a flashy boy and will likely be very catty.

2007 was a busy year for us, and we're expecting more of the same in 2008.  Fifteen new foals hit the ground last spring, among them some of the last sons and daughters of Freckles Candoo, our foundation stud.  We got an even mix of colts and fillies and a nice array of color--black, blue grulla, buckskin and bay.  If you're looking for a youngster, check out the pictures on the Yearlings for Sale page.

Because we had a large number of two- and three-year olds last year, we had quite a group of horses go through training.  Dale Alford worked with us from June through November, giving the youngsters a good start.  They were worked in the round pen briefly before being ridden up the hill to re-experience the hillside under saddle and to work on turns and stops.  While on daily rides, several trainees also encountered deer, elk and an occasional bear.  As a result of this effort, we have no less than fifteen well-started horses with 30-60 days training on them.  Check out our Horses for Sale page for pictures and descriptions.

If this is your first visit to our web site, you may want to take a look at our About Us page.  You'll learn something about who we are, what our horses are like, and what our philosophy is with regard to raising and training quality quarter horses.  We've highlighted many of the horses we have for sale, but there are others, primarily yearlings and two-year olds, that are not listed on the site.  If you are looking for something you don't see here, call or e-mail with your request(s) and we'll do what we can to provide more information.

Enjoy your virtual tour of our horse operation.  We have quite a few quality horses and, while most are for sale, all enjoy visitors!
